Print making has always felt like second nature to me, from early childhood I sat with my family ( all, also in the arts) doing Lino cuts to make Christmas cards every year. Later, after finishing a degree in Fine Art/Textiles at Goldsmiths school of art, I found my way into getting commissioned to do lino cut illustrations, for books, advertising, editorial and packaging etc; a career in commercial art insued; alongside continuing to make my own fine art work.
I moved to North Yorkshire in 1993, increasingly spending more of my time producing , paintings, sculpture and prints. My print practice has broadened to being more experimental, including collage etc.
My work is abstract, for the most part, inspired by the spirit or mood of a place or situation. I’m captivated by the stories, deep-time histories hidden within the landscape, rocks and geology. Also the liminal spaces and the interactions and relationships formed when elements (and beings) meet. I hope to communicate and invoke a sense of this mystery and energy through my work.
I have exhibited in numerous mixed and solo exhibitions, as well as participating in North Yorkshire Open Studios regularly.
